15th November 2010. The International Tiger Confefernce will be held on 21-24 November 2010 in St. Petersburgh of Russia. The conference was called by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Apart from Nepal, chiefs of 12 countries, where tigers exist, will participate in the conference. Nepal, India, China, Bangladesh, Thailand, Myanmar, Bhutan, Russia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Mongolia and Malaysia are known as tiger-range countries.
 

11th November 2010. Nepal ranks second among the countries of south Asia in early marriage practice, revealed a survey Thursday. According to a report released in a two-day executive board meeting on violence against children held in the capital, 51 per cent children in the country get married at an early age. The survey was conducted among people of the 20-24 year age group who were married before reaching 18 years.
 

7t November 2010. Bhaitika, the most important and the final of the five-day Tihar festival, also known as Yampanchak is observed today. Nepali women living in and outside the country will celebrate Bhaitika by worshipping their brothers and offering them special food, garland and gifts.
 

6th November 2010. The people of the Newar community are celebrating the Mha Puja Saturday evening. Mha Puja is the worship of the self and is based on the religious belief that the soul or self is the most important in the world and that if the soul is satisfied, the gods are also satisfied and one's life becomes meaningful and prosperous.

6th November 2010. Nepal has ranked 142nd among 159 countries in the ICT Development Index (IDI) 2010 published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN agency for Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
 
Nepal slipped one-notch from the previous rank of 141st in 2007. ITU’s recent report, Measuring the Information Society 2010, is based on the development in ICT in 2008.
 
India has ranked 117, Bhutan 123, Pakistan 128 and Bangladesh 137.

4th Novemver 2010. Though Nepal failed to make any regulatory changes to facilitate business investment, its ranking improved to 116th position this year compared to 123rd last year, on the ground of good prospects for doing business in coming days.

29th October 2010. The 7th Annual Sarangi Day is back. The one-day festival takes place today – Friday, October 29.An all-day celebration of Nepal’s folk music heritage, Sarangi Day will feature Nepali folklore, especially from the Gandharba caste members who have gathered in Kathmandu from all over Nepal.

The Association celebrated Dasain and Tihar (Dipawali) at the Irish Association Social Club, Chorlton, Manchester on Sunday, 24th October 2010.
 
The Nepalese Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Dr Suresh Chandra Chalise attended the event as a chief guest. He extended his best wishes for the Dashain and Dipawali. He lso applauded the good work of the Association.
